This page explains how to delete your Xodus account and what happens to your information when you do. Xodus is the reentry support app published on the App Store and Google Play under the name Xodus.

You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app, in about a minute. You do not need to ask us, and we do not need to approve it.

Delete your account in the app

  • Sign in to Xodus and open Profile from the menu.
  • Scroll to the bottom, to the section titled Delete Account.
  • Tap Delete my account.
  • Xodus shows you exactly what will be deleted and what will be kept. Read it.
  • Type DELETE, enter your password, and confirm.

Your account is deleted immediately. You are signed out on every device and we email a receipt to the address on the account. The Delete Account section is on the profile page for every kind of account — candidate, parole or probation officer, support person, partner and administrator.

If your account has no password

Some accounts were created from an invitation and sign in with an emailed link rather than a password. For those, Xodus confirms it is really you by asking that you signed in recently — within the last 24 hours. If the button is unavailable, sign out, sign back in, and try again.

Delete your account without the app

If you have uninstalled Xodus, cannot sign in, or would rather not do it yourself, email us and we will delete the account for you.

Email info@xodus-pre.com with the subject "Delete my account", from the email address on the account. We reply to confirm it is you, then delete the account and send the same receipt.

We act on these requests within 30 days, and usually within a few business days. We only need to confirm that the request came from the account's own email address, so that nobody else can delete an account that is not theirs.

What is deleted

Deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no grace period and no undo. Everything below is removed when you delete your account:

  • Your account, sign-in details and every active session.
  • Your profile: name, contact details, date of birth, gender and anything else you entered about yourself.
  • Your reentry plan and every earlier version of it, including completed steps and notes.
  • Your parole or probation conditions and your record of completing them.
  • Your meetings, reminders and check-ins.
  • Your job applications and saved resources.
  • Every file and photo you uploaded, deleted from our storage as part of the same process.

What is kept

Two kinds of information outlive an account, in both cases because they are not only yours:

  • If you supervised or supported other people on Xodus, their records are not deleted with your account — that is their information, not yours. They are disconnected from you and their care is reassigned. Nothing about you remains on their records.
  • If you are a partner organization, the resource listings and job postings you published stay in the directory, because other people rely on them. They are no longer linked to your account.

We keep the deletion receipt email in our mail provider's logs for the period they hold sent mail, and nothing else. We do not keep a copy of your data, we do not keep it for a retention period, and we do not keep it in backups beyond the routine short-lived backups of the database itself.

One account cannot be deleted: the last administrator of the platform. Deleting it would leave nobody able to run Xodus. If you are that person, appoint another administrator first.

Deleting some data without deleting the account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove something. Any file or photo you uploaded can be replaced or removed in the app, and most of your profile can be edited directly. For anything you cannot change yourself, email us at the address above and we will remove it.
